As if having the daily text shoved down your esophagus by the elders weren't enough, now your phone does it too. Joy.

Did this talk ever happen?
by bottleofwater ini heard that in a certain congregation an elder was giving a talk about profanity and the need to avoid it.. he started then counting on his fingers different obscenities and saying them out loud.. those in the audience were shocked.
he was taken off the stage and had his elder book taken from him.. .
did anyone ever hear of this happening?

^Haha I hated it when that happened! Like when we had that WT study some years ago and I had to go there with my mom, and it was on the topic of the city of "Shittim" only I hadn't studied at all. And then here my grandma answers and says "Yes, well in the city of Shittim there were..." and I just cracked up (Sitting right next to her too lol it was soooo embarassing). What made it worse of course was I was the oooooonly person in the room who thought it was funny... lol.

I must be a genius- I did a perfect Windows 7 upgrade.
by moshe inmy 20006 dell e510 was getting pretty long in the tooth and when i saw that dell had the win7 family pack 3 upgrade license on sale this past weekend for $125, i bit the bullet.
my next stop was the local compusa store for a galaxy 256mb pci-e video card- with a nvidia 8400gs chipset for $19.95 after rebate.
i installed it in on my old xp computer and then ran the win 7 upgrade advisor from microsoft- showing-- a 3ghz p4 cpu, 1.5gb memory and the new video card passed the requirements for the win7 aero screen- all tests were in the green.

Even though XP won't be "supported" all that means is that they won't be "updating" it with things like XP specific updates. Read; IE security updates. (Pssh use Firefox anyway, it's a million years ahead of IE) in the end, XP uses virtually NO system RAM, but Win7 uses 2 GB, just to RUN! Run smoothly that is. If you don't mind slowdowns constantly, annoying hiccups and the like, you can deal with less. However for most of the general public, Win7 will do fine, but for hardcore people like me, we really should just stick with XP.
Just my opinion though. But when I can't play my Starcraft because they've added so much CRAP (Koff Windows Aero koff) I no longer am their friend. If they release a patch, goody we're friends again.

I think another big problem is that when someone starts a study, they are told (Through literature lol) that there is this eternally binding "spirit of love" in the christian congregation of JW's, and then they're told that the world will try to draw them away. I don't know about everyone else, but I am a naturally curious person. So if I'm told that there's something really cool that only a few people around the world can have, and I'm special and can have it but others will try to keep it from me, I will make EVERY EFFORT to try and keep that special something. That is the primary draw of the WTS.
Let's say after a while they feel nagging doubts so they look online to research it. BAM "WTS is a cult! It's evil! Stay away!" but no that can't be correct, the elders and members are so nice... maybe the internet is controlled by Satan and... yes that must be it! Satan wants me to lose my faith! Well heck, those disfellowshipped people don't know what they're talking about, the apostates! I'll just ignore them and go back to being happy. This is what most people will think upon recieving nagging doubts.
Once conditioned, it's hard to get out of it. Let's say a person wants to know if the WTS has ever made false prophecies. How do they go about finding out? Well, they ask an elder. But let's face it, true or not true, the elder won't admit to it. So after asking him, they go online to research it. But eh, well, all the people going against the society online are "apostates" and therefore controlled by Satan. Therefore they must be biased on the opposite side of the fence.
Well, now we face a serious dilemma. Who is telling the truth? Obviously we must find a middle party who is NOT biased. Sounds easy right? WRONG. People on the right wing have spent a lot of time defending their religion, and know how to do it very well. People on the left however, have done a lot of their own research and also present very convincing arguments! WHO IS RIGHT? Well guess what? For religion there really is no middle ground! Either you hate them and research them as much as possible to destroy them, or you protect them with all your breath, OR you just don't care enough one way or another to research anything, and so you don't care about the issue. And if you don't care, why should you be asked?
So one way or another, it forces the person to come to a decision ALL BY THEMSELVES about who is right or wrong! (A novel idea if I don't say so myself.) This is what I have been forced to do. Both sides propose convincing arguments, but in the end, the JW's had far too many holes to be right, in my opinion. There are still 10 million who haven't discovered the truth yet though. THOSE are the ones I feel for. (Unless they are good little witnesses, take the "reproof" right in the ass, never complain, never go out of line, and never suspect a thing, in which case it's not so bad then.)

Oh nooooo ewww. I bought my pc with windows 7, and I must say it sort of is overrated. You really should have just upgraded the video card on your XP and left it as an XP. On the other hand, if all you are is a casual PC user, then W7 isn't so bad, but I'm a hardcore gamer. W7 messes up the graphics on a lot of awesome classics, it blurs the display of a lot of higher-end games, and the updated WMP removes and changes a lot of long-time standard features (Such as but not limited to: Burning ripping CD's, easy switching between Now Playing and Media Library, etc etc.) If you're like me and you use WinRAR a lot, (If you don't know what it is then you probably won't ever need to) the right-click context menus are almost nonexistant for any programs installed on the computer. I can no longer "Right-click/Winrar/Extract here" with my windows 7 and It's extremely annoying! To top it off, my Macromedia flash games don't work with Win7 because it doesn't support the latest version (Or any older versions for that matter) of Macromedia Flash Player.
My only good things to say about it is... at least it looks prettier than WinXP, but I'll take function over style any day.
/Rant over.

Just how much of a SUCCESS is God..........so far?
by Terry inyou can't be god if nobody exists but you.. sure, you are taller.
but, taller than what?.
see, a superlative is the last step among comparisons: good, better....best!.

^Imagine if Satan did/does prove his way works. So what? God says "Oh great I lost... oh well time to destroy everything and start over". Is that what you're trying to say? It doesn't matter if god "loses" the argument, because he's god. That's all there is to it. God can't lose, Satan can't win, no matter what.

Well the point isn't even that he is smarter, the point is that god wants to make him look bad by letting him try to run things for a "little while" (You'd think 6-7-8,000 years would be enough...) and then when he falls on his ass say "Well Satan sucked, so now I guess I'll just step right up and fix everything. Hmm let's see, kill all Mormans, Catholics, Jews, Islams, all non JW denominational christians and then resurrect everyone who has ever died, give them another chance, and if/when they screw up, I'll kill them off too. Okay good the world is fixed I'll go sip some tea now thank you goodbye."
That's always been the general feeling I get when I read their articles. Annoying as hell and so... illogical.
Edit: And the idea is also that the angels after seeing how bad Satan did will never questions god's sovereignity.

^Well going with what the witnesses teach, it's because he's like a teacher in a classroom, and he has one rebellious student who says he can do the mathematical problem on the board better than the teacher. Enter: Satan. Satan says that if we do things his way we'll be better off for all eternity than doing things god's way. And of course if god just kills Satan right then and there, the other angels and humans would foreverrrrr doubt his word over (the dead) Satans word.
However to me this line of logic is somewhat (okay a LOT) flawed, as if I were god I would have the power to just remove EVERYTHING and kill EVERYBODY (Yes including his son Jesus and all the other little angels) then RESTART. ALL OVER. BYE BYE PEOPLE'S.
In fact my theory is that god is playing a GIANT computer up in the sky, on his version of "Sim Earth" and he's just having a little fun hitting the disaster button over and over again. (I know I always do!) But soon he'll get serious (Or maybe not) and fix the world. Wait I gotta cut this short, he just made a tsunami strike close by. Damn you god!
